No-Till Farming

Why No-Till Farming and Micro Drainage are the Perfect Fit

By now you know why the Micro Drainage Concept works so well and is so effective and popular. But why is it such a perfect fit with No-Till Farming? There are several reasons, but three are prominent.

First, applying the Micro Drainage Concept to the No-Till technique allows you to plant your crops sooner, which will give you a good head start on the season.

Secondly, using these two concepts together will naturally increase the amount of water that infiltrates the soil. It will also drain excess water away for a more aerobic environment in higher rainfall areas. This will help yield a healthier crop and ensure you get the most out of the season.

Thirdly, using the Micro Drainage Concept with the No-Till technique will significantly increase the soil's retention of organic matter naturally found in the soil, along with the recycling of nutrients.

Strip-Till Farming

What it is and how you can benefit from it...

Strip-Till Farming is a conservation system of farming that requires minimum tillage. This excellent option combines the soil drying and warming benefits of conventional tillage, with the soil-protecting advantages of no-till by disturbing only the portion of the soil that is to contain the seed row.

This has several advantages. It saves money by requiring less passes throughout the field and less fertilizer cost. It also helps reduce soil erosion due to the fact that the soil in between the rows are not disturbed. This helps yield a bigger and healthier crop. Strip-Till Farming also helps increase air and water consumption to the crops due to the deeper tilling that occurs.

These are just a few of the benefits to Strip-Till Farming, there are many more. When combined with the Micro-Drainage Concept, the results and benefits increase even more. This is because the Micro-Drainage Concept increases your organic matter, minimizes tillage even more, increases your microorganisms, and balances your soil fertility. This results higher infiltration rates and increases your yield significantly, especially when combined with the Strip-Till method of farming.
